From the beginning, Lotus has always been family owned and operated. In 2003, we created Lotus because of our love for pets and because we knew we could make something better. We also wanted to be very hands-on owners by learning and doing all aspects of making dog and cat food. We decide how our foods are made (small batches of kibble that are oven-baked and small batches of cans that are made in our own micro-cannery), and what ingredients go into them, which we feel are the very best. There is no multi-national conglomerate or private equity company telling us how to make our food.
Coastal breezes, lush central valley farmlands, rolling green hills packed with vineyards…what better place to think local? Thatʼs exactly what we do every time we make a batch of one of our Lotus raw recipes for cats here in our own Southern California craft raw-ery. These are real cuts of USDA Inspected and Passed and New Zealand Ministery Inspected and Passed meats and poultry, ground and filled locally in small batches by our own staff (yes, people we know and like). And our cuts of meat and poultry are of course hormone, antibiotic free and vegetarian fed. It just seems natural to us, but itʼs kind of a big deal, because so many other pet foods don’t use this same quality and high standard for their meat and poultry. So every time you feed your pet Lotus, you can pat yourself on the back for feeding the very best ingredients and doing your part to support the local economy.
